OUR CLUB
Rotary Bilzen-Alden Biesen was founded in January 1987. After the initial meetings, recognitions, and awarding of honors, the Charter was finally presented on June 11, 1988.
Our members come from Bilzen, Hoeselt, Kortessem, and Lanaken.
During our annual fundraising event, where we traditionally meet around 500 supporters, we gather funds. These proceeds are the foundation for our service activities in our region and internationally.
We meet on Thursday evenings to hold meetings at the Bevershof, which also has the coziest bar in the area. We meet three times a month, supplemented by various activities.
OUR INITIATIVES
Over the years, Rotary Club Bilzen-Alden Biesen has undertaken numerous initiatives. These initiatives are diverse in nature, ranging from local efforts to international collaborations.
In the past 10 years, the club has invested over 250,000 euros!
Examples of our sponsorship include refrigerators for St-Vincentius Associations, fluorescent safety vests for Bilzen schools, a handbike for St-Gerardus, the Seniorie for Tevona Lafelt, VZW Kisangani in Congo, and the children's choir Bloemfontein in South Africa.
In the past, we have also donated funds to Klavertje 3, Chiro Bilzen, Autism Zutendaal, and various other projects.
Rotary International also receives donations from our club for End Polio, Doctors Without Borders, and The Rotary Foundation.
Our club's strong youth program is traditional: annual ethics awards to promising students and youth exchange projects around the world.
